...and Thank You! Really! Thanks for visiting my blog.You may have noticed that even I haven't visited it in awhile. (So much for plans to write daily!) Take note: what I'm writing today is NOT about "post-holiday-Thank-You-Note-guilt", so read on fearlessly! ....and thank you for reading!
Isn't it nice to be thanked for READING? I read about someone who wrote a thank you note to a different person every day...because there was always SOMEONE you could thank. What a great attitude!
When one of my nephews was young, I overheard him saying his bedtime prayers with his little brother. Afterward, (always the "little professor") he asked his brother: "...do you want to know about "Thank You"?"...to which his brother sleepily grunted. (I, however, was raptly attentive!) He continued to explain the appropriate situations in which to say "Thank You", and succinctly ended by saying: "...and that's all I know about Thank You!" -which has become a favorite quote of mine.
(He then continued with "...all I know about Goodbye", and the ever popular "God bless the workers who work" prayer, but I'll save those for another blog!)
Thanks and praise are a great part of faith in God...not that God needs our measly tokens of appreciation, but because we need to acknowledge that "every good and perfect give" comes from Him. I've gotten much better about adding "thanksgiving" to my prayers in the last few years, which keeps me in my place, I must say. Especially, because we're supposed to "give thanks in ALL circumstances", which isn't easy to do.
Plus, if God keeps our "Thank Yous" as treasures, (like I keep the ones from my nieces and nephews!), then I know He'll have a good collection from me!
Isn't it fun to look back at the boxes of saved cards and remembrances? (You wouldn't be reading this blog if you weren't a little sentimental!) Would this be considered a "collection"?
I'm not a big believer in New Year's resolutions, but I do intend to look at this coming year through "rose colored glasses". Leave the gloom and doom for the newscasters.
Meanwhile, speaking of roses...
Thank You for not commenting on the poor photo quality of my last picture:
the Thank You note I made after our wedding, which quotes Marcel Proust:
"Let us be grateful to people who make us happy;
they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom."
...and I am grateful for you!
